Mangrove Stabilization
Activities:
Establish protected areas where activities that may compromise the integrity of mangroves are prohibited.
Where necessary, engage in mangrove reforestation programs as an ecosystem-based adaptation (EBA) and risk reduction measure, as well as a climate change mitigation measure.
Educate communities on the importance of mangroves and engage them in co-management approaches for mangrove management.
Explore the possibility of obtaining carbon credits for mangrove reforestation under the REDD+ mechanism.
Strengthen Marine Managed Areas
Activities:
Strengthen the management of designated marine reserves.
Establish new MMAs where necessary.
Engage all relevant stakeholders in the formulation of the policies and the management of the Marine Reserves/MMAs.
